Overcoming Shyness

The hidden and ignored emotion, shyness wreaks havoc in many people’s lives. It is one of the most limiting and painful emotional conditions that a large percentage of the population lives with to varying degrees. Some failing to seek help because of the fear and embarrassment of expressing what the problem is. Far reaching, it can limit careers, relationships and social activity.

If a person can maintain a degree of calmness in a situation, then they are much more likely to be able to learn about how the situation works. However, if they are highly anxious and internally focused, both their emotional state and focus of attention will make it more difficult to pick up on subtle social cues.

In a coaching programme we will concentrate on building confidence and learning about your verbal and non-verbal communication, which will empower you to deal with any situation. By this empowerment and not focusing on the actual shyness, we can in turn deal with shyness.

Confidence 

Do you find yourself wanting to talk with more confidence? Use body language to your advantage? Succeed in interviews?   Be more influential at work and get your point across? Be confident to ask someone on a date?  Being confident is not necessarily something you are born with or without, it can be learnt by anyone.  We already have the resources and tools to enhance our confidence, however sometimes it is hard to bring these resources out and identify them. When they are identified and know how to tap into the resources and strategies we can face all life’s challenges.  Everyday issues can easily dent our confidence, if we allow ourselves to concentrate on knocks and the feeling of being powerless and out of control. Phobias

For some, phobias restrict lifestyles, sometimes even ruining lives. You are not born with a phobia; somewhere along the line you have learnt it, maybe from someone else’s fear, or even from your own bad experience. For ages I had a phobia of spiders. I never really understood why as they had never done anything to me. Yet I was absolutely petrified. Then one day I was talking with my parents and I discovered that my mother had a terrifying experience with a spider abroad. Every time my mother encountered a spider, she screamed and ran a mile. I learnt to be scared and fear spiders from my mothers fear.  This is somewhat the case for many fears and phobias in our lives.

What do you want to do that your phobia restricts you from doing? Using NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques and a coaching programme, phobias can be unlearnt and overcome.
